Day
1: Arrival in Holguín
Arrival
at the international airport of Holguín.
Transfer to Hotel
Pernik.
Day 2: Holguín - Santiago de
Cuba
After
breakfast we will go on to Santiago
de Cuba. There we will take a
stroll through the city and admire the classical
architectural style of the streets and churches,
drop into the museum of the 26th of July,
visit the impressive fortress Castillo del
Morro, a 17 century
fortress, where the rebels were held prisoners
during the Wars of Independence. Our guide
will show us the most beautiful places of
the city. The afternoon will be for leisure.
We will spend the night at Hotel
San Juan.
Day 3: Santiago de Cuba
In
the morning you can go for a walk in the city
Santiago de Cuba. Northwest
from Santiago lies the village El
Cobre. The pilgrimage church Caridad
del Cobre was built in the 17th century. It
was dedicated to the Holy Virgin, who was
regarded to be the patron saint of slaves
working in mines. About 40 km southeast from
Santiago you will find Parque Baconao.
It is very rich in diverse plant species and
was declared a protected biosphere reserve
by UNESCO.
Day 4: Santiago - Baracoa
The
Journey to Guantánamo
will take you to Mirador de Malones,
a hill, from which you can view the whole
US marine basis of Guantánamo. In the
noon we will go on to Baracoa,
where you will check-in to the Hotel
El Castillo or the Hotel
Porto Santo.
Day 5: Río Toa
You
can also opt for a trip into the wonderful
countryside and take a boat ride in a Cayuco,
a traditional boat of the native Indians,
on Cuba’s deepest river – Río
Toa. The boat ride will take you
to a typical restaurant, where a feast of
senses awaits you – delicious local
cuisine accompanied by good Cuban music. Transfer
back to
your hotel in Baracoa. Evening
at your leisure.
Day 6: Nature Park Von Humboldt -
Guardalavaca
After
check-out, you will depart for the paradisiacal
beaches of Guardalavaca.
On the way there, you will pass the nature
park Von Humboldt and visit the archaeological
site Chorro de Maita, a very
well-preserved cemetery of the indigenous
population of the Arahuaca culture. After
lunch we will travel on to our all-inclusive
hotel Club
Amigo Atlántico.
Day 7: Holguín
Departure
to Holguín. Transport
to the airport and flight back or continuation
of the tour with one of the other
components.
