Day 1: Arrival to Havana

Arrival at the international airport Havana. Transfer to the hotel Montehabana.

Day 2: Havana

At 10.30 o’clock you will be met by our colleague in the lobby of your hotel in Havana. You will be given the itinerary and the description of the travel programme with some notes, which we have written especially for you. You stay overnight at the hotel Montehabana.

Day 3: Varadero

Today’s trip is 2 hours long and upon your arrival in Varadero you will be rewarded with wonderful white sandy beaches. The whole journey is just a very special experience offering scenery of the Cuban coastal region and on the way there, you will cross the bridge “Puente de Bacunayagua” with its spectacular views of the valley Valle Yumuri. Overnight at Villa Tortuga.

Day 4: Varadero

Relax at the gorgeous beaches of Varadero and spend some free time swimming or doing water sports. Overnight at Villa Tortuga.

Day 5: Varadero - Trinidad

Today, we travel to Trinidad – a city founded in1513 by Diego Valazquez and considered to be one of Cuba’s main attractions. It used to be one of the most important Spanish strongholds in their fight for America. Today, it is a lovely colonial town that had its hey-day in the 18th century – the period of the slave trade and the sugar cane industry. Overnight accommodation is at hotel Las Cuevas or Finca Maria Dolores.

Day 6: Trinidad

We suggest you plan your day exploring this charming Cuban city. Trinidad offers many little restaurants, cafes, “mesons” or “paladares” that serve typical local food. The city is also an exciting place for a night out, with live Cuban music on every corner. Overnight accommodation is at hotel Las Cuevas or Finca Maria Dolores.

Day 7: Trinidad - Santiago de Cuba

This part of the journey will take you to Santiago de Cuba, the second largest city on the island. Upon arrival you will have some time to explore the city. For over 5 centuries Parque Cespendes has been Santiago’s centre and everyone’s meeting point. The pompous yellow cathedral was built in its present form in 1922. Your hotel Las Américas is located in the city centre.

Day 8: Santiago de Cuba

In the morning you can go for a walk in the city Santiago de Cuba. Take a peek into the renovated Castillo del Morro, a 17th century fortress, where the rebels were held prisoners during the Wars of Independence, or pop down to the museum Moncada, former 19th century barracks, which now houses a primary school and a remarkable Museum of Cuban History. Also, you can take a taxi and drive to Playa Juragua, and spend a day swimming and sunbathing.

Your hotel accommodation for the night is again Las Américas.

Day 9: Santiago de Cuba - Baracoa

This part of the journey will take you to Baracoa in the province of Guantánamo. The first colonists founded this city in 1512. If you are travelling by taxi, you will pass on your way the Mirador de Malones, a hill in the city, from which you can see the whole of the US marine base of Guantánamo.

In Baracoa you will stay at the hotel El Castillo.

Day 10: Baracoa

You can spend the day exploring this romantic town. We highly recommend visiting the Catedral de Nuestra Senora de Asución, where you can see the Cruz de Parra – a wooden cross, which was brought along by Christopher Columbus. You can also opt for a trip into the countryside and take a boat ride on Cuba’s deepest river – Río Toa. Overnight at the hotel El Castillo.

Day 11: Baracoa - Santiago de Cuba

Today, you will return to Santiago de Cuba and stay for an overnight at hotel Las Américas.

Day 12: Santiago de Cuba - Holguín

Today in the afternoon you will travel to Holguín, in which the cultural and musical Cuban traditions are kept carefully. The most important sight is the spacious Plaza Calixto García, which is dominated by pink and green marble as well as by the statue of the famous general Calixto Iñiguez García. Overnight accommodation at Villa el Bosque.

Day 13: Holguín - Havana

Today’s is at your own disposal. Wander around in Holguín or plan a trip to the dreamlike beaches of nearby Guardalavaca. Also, you can visit the archaeological site Chorro de Maita - a very well preserved cemetery of the indigenous population of the “Arahuaca” culture. In the evening, you board the coach back to Havana.

Day 14: Departure from Havana

You will reach Havana in the morning, and have the rest of the day at your own disposal and planning. Later on transfer will take you to the airport in Havana in time for your departure flight.
