Salsa Dance Courses
What is Salsa?
The word Salsa is derived from the Spanish word for 'sauce' and refers to a special type of music and also a dance style from Latin America...
Salsa is more than only a mix of Caribbean musical rhythms. It is more complex than the Mambo or the Cuban Son dance style, and was originated in New York's Latin quarter called "El Barrio", in the 60´s. The Latin population who lived there, especially people coming from the Caribbean islands, began combining different styles of music and dance with the cultural influences of their homelands. This is how Salsa later appeared in America and then throughout the rest of the world.
Salsa is an exciting and over the top mix of music. The new types of Salsa that have lately emerged are Salsa-Rap, Techno-Merengue and Reggaeton.
